The war between the Republic of Cascadia and the rogue nation Western Canada is raging.

This review is of the entire New World Series from book one through book seven. I actually got book one at the library and enjoyed it very much. It was good enough that I ordered the entire set 1-7 from Amazon. I prefer to own this genre. I have many series from different authors. The five star is A. American's Home series. But I digress. This series is somewhat different from many other authors in that it is very much about nations,nation building and politics. Considerably less involved with prepping and preparedness. I didn't know for sure if I would like this adventure veering off from my tried and true story lines. But I actually enjoyed it as a change of pace. The main character is a very strong leader it turns out. War is a dirty game and the people who love to criticize methodology without being truly involved in the defense of what was are indeed the weak of society. They would be the first ones to be disregarded or worse in a take over. A great quote from Gordon in Those Who Remain is this...."hard times create strong men,strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times". This quote absolutely backs up my earlier statement. Take a few minutes and just think about it..people do get "fat and lazy" and want things handed to them. Don't think they should have to be imposed upon for their own sustainment. And worse yet, look to government.....the new religion of many... to take responsibility for their very existence. Overall a good read.

This series started off fantastic, but after book three is steadily went downhill with some mild redemption in book six.
It's seemed like Hopf was as eager to finish writing this series as I was to finish it.
A shameful disappointment overall.
Another homerun for Michael Hopf!
This final addition was a really good ending for this series. In keeping with the previous books in the series this final edition was well written, appropriate action, and keeps the reader interested. Looking forward to his next series of books !
Not quite sure if I'm having a stroke, but I'm positive the end of this book was one big repeat from previous books. I'm guessing this is how the satellite books are incorporated into the main story but it definitely made me wonder if I was having deja vu for a minute. All in all a fun ride, as usual.
I have finished the series, and this seventh and final volume brought everything to a believable close. I like the writing style the pace the stories move, and appreciated the fact that the gory details were not over played. This is a series worth reading if you enjoy a good post apocalyptic story, and one I highly recommend.
Although I enjoyed reading this last book in the series, the theme is definitely played out. This book was also too short and should have been included as part of the last book. All in all though it was a good series, and if you read all the prior ones you should read this series closeout book. This is not a standalone read though, if you haven't read the prior books.
Read it through in basically one sitting, really grabbed me! Pulled things together for a great ending, and wrapped the series perfectly!
I have read this series over the past week! Went from one book to the next. Excellent series that I have really enjoyed!! Hate to see it end! The Republic of Cascadia is facing the last battle with a brutal leader of Western Canada! This will be a fight to the death!!
